Welcome. I'm Niko and in this guide I invite you to a simple tasting. Take a few minutes, prepare glasses and notice which water suits you best. Your goal is to find a taste you enjoy.
1. Prepare the glasses
Pick two or three waters, or different carbonation levels of the same water. Use clean, odourless glasses and serve all waters at similar temperature. For the first comparison, leave out ice, lemon and other additions.
If you taste together, ask someone to mark the glasses with numbers. You can move the bottles off the table for the first round and reveal them afterwards.
2. Take a few slow sips
Start with still water if it's in the comparison. Then move up to the most sparkling one. For each, note three things: what taste you notice, how the bubbles feel, and whether you'd want another glass.
Use your own words: soft, pronounced, gentle, sharp, pleasant — or anything else. Writing helps you remember your impressions when you choose next time.
3. Compare the bubbles
No bubbles, barely perceptible bubbles, or bright carbonation? Compare which sensation suits you best. Your favourite doesn't have to be the same for every occasion.
4. Try it with food
Take a sip before a bite, then after. Repeat with a different water. Notice which combination you'd want to have again with your next meal.
Start with a dish you know well. It's easier to focus on the water's difference. On the next tasting, try another dish or another carbonation level.
5. Record your choice
Favourite water · Carbonation · Dish tried with · What I liked. A short note helps you remember your impressions next time.
